Congratulations, Nicole!

Occasionally, I get a chance to shoot a different kind of senior. Congratulations, Nicole! A recent graduate of Central Washington University, Nicole contacted me to commemorate her college career with a small photo session. Nicole was unable to walk with her classmates, and consequently, had no photo recognition. This is where I came into the picture (no pun intended). I was happy to help her out, and because she was now back at home and had an available schedule, Nicole thought this would be the perfect time to document this exciting time in her life. Thank you, Nicole, for being such a fun and willing participant:)

I wish you all the best in your career plans, Nicole. Stay in touch:)

Veena

Wow! What a beautifully cool change to our weather here in the PNW! I hope you all are enjoying the reprieve we have been blessed with:)

I would like to introduce Veena to you all. I met Veena and her family earlier this week. Our photo shoot was to be a gift to Veena, from her parents, for her 20th birthday. I thought this was such a gift of love…that her parents would want to honor Veena with a commemoration of her departure from her teen years and usher her lovingly into her 20’s.  This is a wonderful, brilliant, sweet and beautiful young woman, who welcomed me into the privacy of her family relationship. I thoroughly enjoyed our session and am so excited to deliver to Veena and her family, this dedication.

Veena, I wish you all the best in your most prosperous future. I pray that you will find all of the success you are reaching for in these last few years of your college career. Please keep in touch with me. You are such a treasure now. I can’t wait to see the woman you become!

Samantha

Say hello to my most recent high school senior, Samantha. Samantha’s session was one of my favorites. Her family met me downtown Tacoma where she decided to leave her family at Starbucks and have her session with just the two of us. Samantha is such a sweet and beautiful young woman. She is a natural in front of the camera, a photographer’s dream! I love the innocence in her eyes along with the obvious joy she has in life. I hope you enjoy a few of the photos Samantha and I created. Congratulation, Samantha! I wish you many blessings as you head off to PLU. I can’t wait to see who you become:)

Kathleen

Last weekend was a busy one for Chris McKenna Photography. I had 3 senior sessions over Saturday and Sunday. It was a beautiful weekend, and I was so happy these times worked out for my 3 lovely ladies.

Kathleen was my first senior model. With aggressive plans for veterinary medicine, Kathleen asked to have her session at the zoo. Unfortunately, when we got there, it was closed. Odd for 4:30 on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon, but we needed a back-up plan.  On our way to Pt. Defiance, I drove Kathleen through the waterfront along Ruston Way. She had never been down there before and thought that it would be a good alternative to the zoo. I love shooting on Ruston, so I was happy to oblige:) We had a great session! Kathleen is so photogenic and has a fun and unique sense of style. She is an avid reader and brought a stack of books as a prop for some of her poses. I loved the idea! It was a great afternoon and a fantastic shoot!! I enjoyed Kathleen’s company greatly.

We wish you all the best in your future endeavors, Kathleen. May a multitude of wonderful opportunities come your way.

Please enjoy a sample of Kathleen’s senior photos.

Caitrin’s Final Shoot…FINALLY!

Thanks for staying tuned for the saga of Caitrin’s senior year. Our original intent was to get in a senior session once a month throughout the school year. Alas, with Caitrin’s busy schedule, that did not happen. It was a challenge to fit it all in, but I think we got a good representation of who Caitrin is and how she has changed, even in just one year. Caitrin, you are an amazing young woman! I know you will go on to do great and wonderful things in your life. Congratulations on your graduation!  Can’t wait to see what the next phase of life brings. We are blessed by you:)

Please enjoy these few photos that I have chosen from Caitrin’s Nisqually Wildlife Preserve session.

WSU Graduation

This is a special year here at the McKenna household. We have 2 graduates-Joseph and Caitrin!! Woohoo!! This blog is highlighting Joseph and his years as an Engineering student at Washington State University, and his girlfriend Molly, who is also graduating. I know it’s been a long long road to get here, but now, it is within spittin’ distance. In 3 weeks, we will have a college grad. Way to go, Joesph! We are so proud of you. You and Molly must be so excited to complete your degrees. Keep your eyes on the future and enjoy what it has in store for you. God bless you both.

Love, Mom and Dad

Her Favorite Yellow Umbrella

This is Caitrin’s 5th photo session to commemorate her senior year. What we are trying to achieve with this committed senior is a variety of different seasons, weather and locations, as well as honoring her high school sports career. This afternoon, Caitrin was hoping to get some rain/puddle photos where she could show off her bright yellow umbrella. Fortunately for me we did not get caught in a downpour. I hope you enjoy the few shots we got. Stay tuned for Caitrin’s final session sometime in April.

Cat’s Senior Shoot #4-Soccer

This has been a beautiful week for bright sunshine. I love rummaging through my glove compartment to find some much needed sun glasses:). Sun is not always a photographer’s best friend, though. It can be the source of washed out photos with squinty eyed subjects. That being said, Caitrin and I needed to get her soccer portraits out of the way before uniforms had to be turned in, so yesterday was the day. Cat (Caitrin’s field name) did her part by securing the school field and showing up with her uniform, letterman’s jacket, cleats and a ball. I brought all of my needed gear, except for a warm pair of gloves. I’ll make sure to put those in my camera bag for the next cold weather shoot. Here is what Cat and I came up with for some unusual still and action shots. I used the bright sun for some interesting busts and streaks. Thanks for braving the wind chill for me, Caitrin. Congratulations on a season record of 16 goals, 11 assists and the honor of All SPSL 1st team; the best way to end a great high school career!

Ram Pride

This past weekend, I had the distinct pleasure to photograph Jordan for his senior portraits. Jordan is a wonderful young man who recently earned his Eagle Scout rank in the BSA. Jordan plays the trumpet for Rogers High School, and has clear pride in his Ram roots. Jordan wanted some of his photos to be taken at the high school, and specifically at the band room entrance. I love that Jordan has specific ideas on what types of poses he wants in his senior portfolio. I hope you enjoy what Jordan and I came up with for his portrait session.

Congratulations, Jordan, on your senior year and upcoming graduation. I had a blast with you!

Rainy Day Session

Today looked like a gloomy, rainy, yukky day. And it was! Today was the day Caitrin and I set aside to head up to Lincoln Park in West Seattle to take advantage of some fall color. We don’t get a lot of fall color here in the Northwest, but today, we found some. Caitrin and I had to slug through the mud to get there, but we found what we were looking for; a grove of colorful trees with a bench to sit on. A wet bench. These are some of my favorite portraits of Caitrin. I hope you enjoy them.
